The BEST Homemade Chicken Pot Pie

Cooking with the Kids is a great way to teach nutrition, healthy eating and a love for preparing meals for yourself.

For this dish we needed:

  • Immaculate pie crust or make your own using this recipe Paleo Pie Crust
  • 1.5-2 pounds cooked chicken breast
  • 2 cups chicken bone broth
  • 4 tablespoons Arrowroot powder
  • 1 package frozen organic mixed veggies
  • Frozen peas
  • Nutritional yeast
  • Salt and pepper
  • Garlic powder, parsley, or any other spice you wish

Make a "gravy" with the 2 cups of bone broth. Can add in spices of choice here. I usually use Braggs Seasoning.  Boil the broth.  While the broth is heating up mix the 4 tablespoons of arrowroot with another 1/2 cup of broth and add to pan when it boils.  Cook until thickened.

Place one of the pie crusts in the bottom of a pie plate.

Mix the chopped, cooked chicken with the "gravy, mixed veggies, a handful of peas, nutritional yeast(about 1/4 cup or less) and the seasonings.

Place the chicken mixture in the pie plate and cover with the second pie crust.  Cut slits in the top of the crust and bake in oven at 375 for 15 minutes, cover the edge of the crust with tin foil and bake for another 30 minutes.
